A fine accommodation option in Maxwell area

Clean and stylish rooms, and convenient location. Staff were friendly and professional.

We had a great stay here around 4-5 years ago when the hotel was owned by Six Senses. However, we were a little disappointed by our experience on this visit since it was sold to Marriott Bonvoy. The outdoor pool area is in need of some maintenance, and felt a little worn and neglected. The fabric on some of the sun loungers was also quite dirty. The breakfast service on the first morning took almost 1 hour, despite very few other guests in the restaurant. The rooms are also extremely small.

Outstanding location. Fabulous staff. Good room. Excellent food. Beautiful decor and bars.

Did not notify us about construction works next door (blocking view). Charging us for sparkling wine when we were waiting for our room and were offered a drink by one staff member then served by another.

Thoroughly enjoyable stay in an interesting boutique hotel with fabulous staff

Beautiful old heritage building recently refurbished and full of fascinating artefacts. Very quiet and comfortable in my room. Loved the breakfast and the kindness and attentiveness of the staff.

The management need to figure out their eco credentials. Towels were washed every single use, which is a waste of energy and no option to retain them. All lights on in the room all day after cleaning.. and aircon full blast. Glass bottles for juice at breakfast are recycled not washed. Simple things could help make contribution to helping reduce impact on climate.. and finally the chairs in the lobby are a bit style over substance. They are arranged like a kid has been playing buses with the parent’s chairs and you can’t actually sit on them.. so there is nowhere to rest in the lobby area. Which is just odd

Nice charming boutique hotel

Very nice boutique hotel - charming. Nice restaurant with vegetarian food. Tried risotto, was excellent. Gym is also nice, and there is a swimming pool. Rooms are nice, though mine was a bit small. Good breakfast.

My room was on the ground floor, so only small high windows. If you stay here I strongly recommend a room on a higher floor. Service for breakfast was also somewhat hesitant.

The location was great for exploring on foot, great staff, vegetarian restaurant amazing ????

The ambiance of the hotel was fairly formal but friendly. The decor was Colonial but pleasant. The dining areas were very pleasant, books, tableware etc it felt really cosy and a little special. The bedroom was on the small side with good quality furniture and bedding. A very large mini bar space with small wardrobe space, I would have preferred the reverse. Excellent staff took great care of me ????

The room could have been bigger as it was a King size bedroom and it barely had space for me on my own, or my clothing. Definitely too small for two regular sized people. The mini bar could be reduced it will double the wardrobe space. The pool is only useful when it’s not raining… It rained a lot…

Would stay here again.

Fantastic location right across the street from Maxwell Food Center, a few blocks walk from the metro. We walked our suitcases to the metro to get to the airport.

Charming, small but perfectly formed hotel in a great location.

The Deluxe room we were in was small but for our two day stay it was big enough. Do note if you have a large suitcase (we were on a stopover in Singapore) like we did it would be a little in the way, but that's on us :) The bed is comfortable and beddings lush. The shower had good water pressure - I always appreciate that in a hotel. I love the lap pool - one at a time though - and the small gym - there's a running machine which is what I needed. I also went out for a run on my own in the area at 6am - felt safe. I only managed to fit in a 30 mins head and shoulder massage - it was so relaxing. The ginger tea and snacks that came after was lovely. I enjoyed the breakfast (a la carte not buffet) particularly the chicken congee! Breakfast/dining area was cosy, check out the beautifully decked out bars and library area - so gorgeous. Maxwell hawker centre is a stone throw away and Tanjong Pagar MRT station is about a 5 min walk. Easy to travel to different parts of Singapore from there. Ann Siang Hill (bars and restaurants) and Chinatown are close to the hotel too. Staff were really helpful, friendly and professional. We would love to stay here again when we're in Singapore next.

Our room looks out to nothing, which makes it quiet. If you're after a view, maybe ask for a room facing out. More of an FYI, bar last order is at 10pm.

Wonderful

We stayed for three nights here as part of a ten-day trip to Singapore. The location is the best possible, for exploring Chinatown. MRT is a five-minute walk. Staff is helpful and efficient, able to assist with local logistics, make recommendations for things to do. Hotel provides “workshop” sessions at no cost on several topics focussing on health and wellness. Multiple multi-national restaurants both top flight and classic small Singapore eateries are within a 5-10 minute walk, some among the best in the city. Our room was small by North American standards, but well-appointed. The location is quiet for an excellent night’s sleep as it is off the major arteries. King-sized bed, very comfortable. The 1st floor lounge offers a sanctuary for down time with a library, bar and tapas food. Breakfast is provided la carte as the hotel is very geared toward a “green footprint” and non-wastage. Strong, free Wi-fi. Small workout area, small lap pool with rooftop for relaxing. Our room was shower only and large with easy access (no curb). No negatives for this property. Highly recommended.

-Solving complicated situations is not the strongest ability of reception staff -I can advice to take an upgraded room if space is crucial for you.
